Parking Reminder/Request
If you work for a local company which does not have reserved parking for employees, please consider
not parking directly in front of your place of business. Oftentimes these spaces are open because you
arrive before the start of business. However, these spaces are better left available for the people
who patronize your establishments throughout the day...you could be inadvertently costing your company business by not giving
your customers a place park nearby. While this issue applies throughout our business community, it is particulary hard
for customers to find spots on Brownsville Road in the area of Brentwood Towne Square. Your cooperation would be
greatly appreciated by the BBOA and your paying customers.

RESIDENT MEMBER PROGRAM
The BBOA announces its first Resident Member, Jack Hartman. Jack, a long time Brentwood resident,
brings a new perspective of the borough's issues and concerns to the BBOA. Jack's first order of
business was announcing that the BBOA will be the Grand Marshall's of the 2008 Brentwood 4th of
July Parade. We welcome Jack and hope that he is the first of many residents to join the organization.

|
Sponsor a BBOA Mailing
The BBOA is introducing an innovative idea to reduce
the organization's mailing costs while at the same time
allowing a member business to take advantage of a
relatively inexpensive way to advertise to the BBOA business
community. By sponsoring a BBOA mailing, your 8 X 10 ad will
accompany the BBOA flyer. Describe your business, announce a
special, or print a page of coupons. Contact BBOA President
Denny Flanigan for information on fees and the upcoming
schedule. Businesses are already lining up, so get your
request in soon!
|
|
Membership Plaques
This year the BBOA started a Membership Plaque Program. This plaque is a great identifying
symbol that recognizes you as a current member of the BBOA, and that your business or organization
is involved with promoting business in our fine community. The plaque is a symbol of UNITY and "What's
Right With Brentwood". Each year we will be sending out a new insert that will replace the previous one.
We believe the by displaying this plaque at your place of business, you will be letting your patrons know
that you are a part of an organization that is dedicated to encouraging and promoting business in the
Brentwood area.
Please contact Rita Day at 412-805-0349 or rrday@gbaco.com if you have not
received a plaque and would like one mailed to your business or organization.

The South Hills Country Club was filled with Christmas spirit as the BBOA celebrated the holiday season with our annual Christmas Luncheon.
Over 120 BBOA members, guests and dignitaries attended the celebration. It was a special time to enjoy the close friendship we share with

While snow and cold is more closely associated with the holiday season, Mother Nature came
up with an unseasonably warm evening for this year's Light Up Night. However, there were plenty
of lights and sounds to put the community in the right mood to kick off the season. Thanks to
all who attended, including that little old man from the North Pole, Santa Claus himself!
Now that the holiday shopping season is upon us, please remember to patronize your local merchants
when you are looking for gift ideas. All of the BBOA member businesses listed to the right are ready
to offer you great products and services now and throughout the new year.

A steady rain couldn’t dampen the spirits of the folks attending the ribbon cutting ceremony
for the new gazebo in Brentwood Towne Square. The Economic Development South celebrated the
opening of the gazebo and stairs connecting Brentwood Towne Square at Dewalt Avenue and Route 51.
The project was paid for in part with a $45,000 state grant from State Representative Harry Readshaw.

Council President Jay Lieb, Justin Wagner from Gateway Engineering and John Drnevich from the
Allegheny County Planning Commission participated in the ceremony. Mr. Readshaw presented
John Slater and the EDS with checks for $45,000 and $85,000 and recog-nized the EDS, BBOA

PIRATES vs. THE TEXAS RANGERS
Event organizer and BBOA Secretary to the Organization Brian Graham would like to thank his fellow organizers, BBOA members,
business sponsors, and community members who helped make this year's tailgate party and baseball game another success. The
weather started off great and everyone enjoyed plenty of food, refreshments, and entertainment...And then came the big storm.
Luckily the rain arrived just as the tailgate party was winding down, so aside from running between the raindrops to get on the
buses, the storm just served to cool things down and provide for a beautiful evening of baseball. The Bucs won the game 8-1 to
end the night on a positive note. Click on any of the thumbnails above to view pictures from the event---see if you can find
yourself at the tailgate party or ballgame!

Want to find the Fountain of Youth? You can!
According to Prevention Magazine, people who volunteer
stay healthier and live longer than people who don’t.
VOLUNTEERING KEEPS YOU IN SHAPE. A recent Johns Hopkins
University study found that spending 15 hours a week in
an elementary school DOUBLES the number of calories you
burn in a year. PITCHING IN MAKES YOU HAPPIER. Volunteers
report more satisfaction with their lives, higher levels
of self-esteem, and lower levels of depression.
VOLUNTEERING BUILDS BRAIN POWER. In another John Hopkins study,
people who volunteered cut their risk of Alzheimer’s disease in HALF!
Improve your health while improving the health of your community...
