 Brentwood Park Initiative Cookbook
The Brentwood Park Initiative is preparing a taste-tempting cookbook featuring favorite recipes from members of our community. Our cookbook will be beautifully illustrated and bound and is sure to be a community treasure.

We would like you to submit 1 or 2 of your favorite recipes so you can be represented in our memorable collection.

Each cookbook will contain helpful cooking hints, recipe category dividers, a table of contents, an index, and special pages of interest to our community and the BPI project. The cookbook will be typeset in an easy-to-read format and professionally printed and bound.

Proceeds from our cookbook sales will help fund the Brentwood Park Initiative and the park renovations. Your help in contributing recipes will ensure that our cookbook will be a success. We anticipate a great demand for our cookbooks, and we want to be certain we order enough. You can reserve one or more copies for yourself and your family at this time to be assured of receiving them. We anticipate an early 2010 publication.

FosterCat Needs You!

FosterCat's mission is to develop and sustain an organization to provide temporary foster care for cats and kittens in private homes until permanent homes can be found. Here's how YOU can help:
Fostering - Open your home and heart to a kitty in need. A few weeks in a foster home make the difference between life and death for a kitty who has been born outside or a kitty whose owners have abandoned it. Fostering is not a permanent commitment. It is an opportunity to save the lives of helpless animals until we can find them permanent loving homes. We will work around your schedule and support you every inch of the way. All it takes to become a FosterCat foster parent is your love and compassion.
Volunteering - Volunteer in one or more activities that help us save lives. We need help raising funds, transporting animals to adoption events or vet visits, screening adoption applicants, speaking at events, etc. YOU can make a difference! Be a lifesaver. Help us help Pittsburgh to become a "no kill" city. Please call us at 412-481-9144 or contact us through our website - www.fostercat.org.

Book Discussion Groups at the Baldwin Library
The Mystery Lovers Discussion Group meets at 1pm on the fourth Wednesday of every month. Monthly Afternoon Book Discussion Group meets at 1pm on the third Wednesday of the month. Call 412-885-2255 for more details.

 Library Senior Information Center
In the back of the library's Program Room, there is an information center designed especially for seniors citizens. In this area are brochures, pamphlets, newsletters and other publications on topics of interest to seniors, including:
  • Choosing a Medicare HMO
  • AARP membership info
  • Support services for special populations such as widows or the disabled
